The first Afghan restaurant in the Nederlands, Mantoe takes it's name from a traditional Afghan dish of spiced and minced lamb, served with pumpkin and aubergine in a pasta jacket, with yogurt and tomato sauce. A fixed three course menu is served, at a relaxed pace, and a reasonable price. I was extremely happy with my pumpkin soup and fresh brown bread, followed by delicious Mantoe, roast chicken and vegetables, and marinated lamb with aubergine. The rice accompanying this was some of the finest I've had the pleasure of eating, flavoured lightly with cardamon, sweetened with a little sugar, and cooked to perfection. A delightful sweet and sour dessert, and a bottle of Australian Shiraz completed this wonderful culinary experience. A simply decorated restaurant with friendly, efficient service, Mantoe provides a unique dining experience in Amsterdam.
